“Interactive Calming Station” Service Learning Project with Makey Makey and Scratch

A team of learners at our Classroom Coding, Robotics and Innovation STEAM Studio in Steamboat Springs on Friday engineered this prototype of an “Interactive Calming Station” for their school with a Makey Makey, MIT’s Scratch, and our portable makerspace! At the push of a button it plays calming music, has interactives with positive messages, and a relaxing squeeze ball that sings to you. My team and I are always inspired by what these teams invent, especially projects engineered for the service of others, and what the teachers take with them from these hybrid teacher-learning and STEAM enrichment programs.
